How to reach Ladakh
Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is a study in contrasts and is today right on the top of the must see places in India. There is so much to see and to do here and the diversity of its culture has been influenced by the various invaders over the centuries and this is reflected in the food, religion and the dress of its people. This region has also been heavily influenced by Buddhism and the monasteries here are just spectacular.
There is no direct link to Ladakh by rail and one must take the train to Jammu and then a taxi for the 680 kms.
There are regular flights to Ladakh from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh and New Delhi.
One can drive down from Srinagar as well as from Jammu to Ladakh. The roads to Ladakh are usually open from June to October. The Zoji La Pass and the Rohtang Pass are the two passes one comes across during the drive.
