How to reach Ajanta and Ellora Caves
The Ajanta & Ellora caves are masterpieces and are some of the best examples of ancient art in India. These caves have been cut into solid rock by hand and are over 2000 years old. The paintings here on the walls and ceilings are vivid and beautiful even now. The Ellora caves are a collection of 34 caves that are a mix of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain showcasing the coexistence of these religions almost 2000 years ago. These caves are well connected by train and by road so traveling here is not difficult.
One can choose to fly to Aurangabad, which is just 30 kms from Ellora and about 60 kms from Ajanta. Mumbai is the closest international airport and is well connected to all cities in India and other parts of the world as well.
Aurangabad the nearest city is where most visitors choose to take a bus or taxi. The other options are buses and taxis from Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Nasik, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and even Bijapur.
The nearest junction to the Ajanta & Ellora caves is Jalgaon and Aurangabad and both of these are well connected on all the important rail routes.
